What is a Community Foundation?
The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County is one
of nearly 650 community foundations across the country
and around the world dedicated to improving the quality
of life in a particular region. The
Community Foundation Serving Boulder County, established
in 1991, is a foundation created by the community to
serve the community.
Our Mission: The Community
Foundation Serving Boulder County exists to improve
the quality of life in Boulder County, now and forever,
and to build a culture of giving. We work in
three areas:
Donors
Our assets, which total over $35 million, represent
over 160 funds mostly established by local families,
individuals and corporations. We offer different
kinds of funds structured to accommodate and facilitate
giving back to the community in numerous ways. Our goal
is to work with donors to make their philanthropy effective,
strategic and hassle-free. We welcome donors who see
giving as a "family venture."
Nonprofits
From our assets, the foundation makes grants
to nonprofit groups working in the arts, civic engagement,
education, the environment, and health and human services.
We've given out more than $25.6 million since making
our first grants in 1992. We are also working to build
the Community Trust,
our most flexible and responsive fund.
We work to strengthen
local nonprofits in fundamental ways, by offering
a variety of programs to help build their capacity and
organizational structure.
Our Community
We strive to be a community resource and a catalyst
for this place we all love. We provide leadership in
encouraging philanthropy and building permanent resources
in our community. Our main effort in this area is Culture
of Giving, which works to raise awareness about
Boulder County nonprofits and increase giving. For more

Culture of Giving Movement, please visit www.CultureofGiving.org.

Foundation.

How Your Philanthropy Dollars Work Harder
in a Community Foundation

•
We help donors create an individual or family legacy
and offer a simple way to fulfill multiple charitable
intents, with low-cost administration, making us a good
alternative to private or family foundations.
• We offer personalized service, including donor
and family involvement and education in selecting charities
and connecting donors with strategic and high-impact
funding opportunities.
• All our fees stay in our community, where they
benefit local organizations meeting a broad range of
local needs. We accept a wide variety of assets and
offer maximum tax advantages.
